Welcome to Pledg! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Pledg mobile application ("App," "Service," or "Pledg"). By accessing or using Pledg, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Pledg, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

1.1 Eligibility

• You must be at least 13 years old to use Pledg
• If you are under 18, you must have parental consent
• You must provide accurate and complete information
• You must comply with all applicable laws

2. Account Registration

2.1 Creating an Account

• You can sign up using Google Sign-In or email magic link
• You are responsible for maintaining account security
• You must not share your account with others
• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access

2.2 Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you:

• Violate these Terms
• Engage in fraudulent or illegal activities
• Abuse or harass other users
• Attempt to harm the Service or other users

3. Use of the Service

3.1 License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Pledg for personal, non-commercial purposes.

3.2 Acceptable Use

You agree to use Pledg only for lawful purposes. You must not:

• Violate any laws or regulations
• Infringe on intellectual property rights
• Transmit harmful code or malware
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access
• Interfere with the Service's operation
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users
• Impersonate others or provide false information
• Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) without permission
• Collect user data without consent

3.3 Content Guidelines

When creating habits, sharing content, or chatting, you must not post:

• Illegal, harmful, or offensive content
• Hate speech, discrimination, or harassment
• Sexually explicit or violent content
• Spam, advertising, or promotional content
• Misleading or fraudulent information
• Content that violates others' privacy

4. User Content

4.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of content you create in Pledg (habits, messages, etc.). By using the Service, you grant us a license to:

• Store and display your content
• Share your content with users you've authorized
• Use aggregated, anonymized data for analytics

4.2 Content Responsibility

• You are solely responsible for your content
• We do not endorse or verify user content
• We may remove content that violates these Terms
• We are not liable for user-generated content

5. Social Features

5.1 Friend Connections

• You can connect with other users as friends
• Friends can see your public habits and profile
• You can remove friends at any time

5.2 Shared Habits

• You can share habits with specific users
• Shared habit participants can view each other's progress
• You can leave shared habits at any time

5.3 Chat and Messaging

• Chat is available for shared habits
• Messages must comply with content guidelines
• We may monitor chats for safety and compliance

6. Privacy and Data

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your data.

6.1 Data Collection

• We collect data necessary to provide the Service
• Analytics tracking can be disabled in Settings
• We do not sell your personal data

6.2 Data Security

• We use industry-standard security measures
• Data is encrypted in transit and at rest
• However, no system is 100% secure

7. Intellectual Property

7.1 Our Rights

Pledg and all related trademarks, logos, and content are owned by us or our licensors. You may not:

• Copy, modify, or distribute our content
• Reverse engineer the App
• Remove copyright or trademark notices
• Use our branding without permission

7.2 Feedback

If you provide feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation or compensation to you.

8. Third-Party Services

Pledg integrates with third-party services:

• Google Sign-In: Subject to Google's terms
• Supabase: Subject to Supabase's terms
• Calendar Integration: Subject to your device's terms

We are not responsible for third-party services or their terms.

9. Disclaimers

9.2 No Medical Advice

Pledg is a habit tracking tool, not a medical or therapeutic service. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Consult healthcare professionals for medical concerns.

9.3 Service Availability

• We strive for 99.9% uptime but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service
• We may modify or discontinue features at any time
• We are not liable for service interruptions

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

• WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES
• OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED $100 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS
• WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR USER CONTENT OR THIRD-PARTY ACTIONS
• WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR DATA LOSS (THOUGH WE MAINTAIN BACKUPS)

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

• Your use of Pledg
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of others' rights
• Your content

12. Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via:

• In-app notification
• Email to your registered address
• Notice on our website

Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Termination

13.1 By You

You may delete your account at any time through Settings. Your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

13.2 By Us

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately if you violate these Terms, without prior notice.

13.3 Effect of Termination

• Your license to use Pledg ends immediately
• Your data will be deleted per our Privacy Policy
• Provisions that should survive termination will remain in effect

14. Dispute Resolution

14.1 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Your Jurisdiction], without regard to conflict of law principles.

14.2 Arbitration

Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration, except:

• Small claims court actions
• Intellectual property disputes
• Injunctive relief requests

14.3 Class Action Waiver

15. General Provisions

15.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms and our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and Pledg.

If any provision is found invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect.

15.3 No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right does not waive that right.

15.4 Assignment

You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may assign our rights to a successor.

15.5 Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays or failures due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

16. App Store Terms

16.1 Apple App Store

If you download Pledg from the Apple App Store, you agree to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement.

16.2 Google Play Store

If you download Pledg from Google Play, you agree to Google Play's Terms of Service.

By using Pledg, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.
